PJAZZA REGINA Suite

This is a tribute to Queen Victoria, the longest serving British monarch. The British formally ruled Malta between 1814 and 1964 for a total of 150 years. The white marble statue of Queen Victoria by Sicilian sculptor Giuseppe Valenti was erected in 1891 to commemorate the Queen’s 50th anniversary as monarch. The statue, right outside Malta’s National Library ultimately gave one of Valletta’s most popular square the name Piazza Regina.
